Who We Are
My name is Tom Harris and I am the owner/operator of Big T’s Trees. I had always wanted to live the American dream of being in business for myself and decided to start Big T’s Trees only 10 years ago. I started with only a chainsaw and a trailer and doing any small tree jobs I could get. After I got my contractor’s license and business began booming, I was able to start acquiring equipment and hiring employees to do more jobs. I bought a crane truck in 2012, which gave my company the ability to remove considerably larger trees for customers in both their front and back yards. This also enables my company to remove trees in significantly large pieces since we are a full-service tree company. The huge trees we were removing were of many varieties of wood. I was in awe at the natural beauty and individual personalities of these grains of wood. I felt it would be a shame if these beautiful trees were to be cut into firewood or taken to a landfill. As a way to recycle the enormous trees, I bought two saw mills and started cutting the wood into slabs and lumber to be used for any woodworking projects big or small. The expansion of Big T’s Hardwood Outlet now has the space and equipment to slab the wood; stack and sticker it; air dry the wood for 1 year; and then finish it off in our kiln. We have over thousands of slabs to choose from. We are a family run business and so proud of the exquisite slabs available for anybody’s woodworking projects or needs. Since we have a steady supply of wood from our regular tree cutting jobs, our prices are extremely reasonable. It feels remarkable to recycle these trees that have once stood tall and proud gracing our communities with shade and beauty and turn them into something that will last for many more years to come. We also have a full wood shop with CNC machine, planer, 50 inch drum sander, and many other woodworking tools that is needed to turn rough slabs of wood into beautiful furniture.
